The best way to revise maths is little and often.
This revision page is based on the revision guide I gave you in class.
I suggest you use mymaths, bitesize and your CD to help you.
You should find a link on the side bar to the work we did in year 10, in case you want to look back.
Grades G and F you should feel confident about, so revision for E, D and some C grade...
You are doing well! Keep at it! Not long now.
Equipment list. Make sure you have everything you might need!
Hope it all goes well on Monday afternoon
Shape and Space C
Week beginning 4th May 09
This work is difficult. I have chosen a couple of the less complex topics. If it's too hard, keep practicing the D grade work. Remember if you get all the easier work correct you only need to pick up a couple of C grade marks to get a C. So don't spend too long on this. Try the D grade work again!
1. The volume of a cylinder.
The volume of a cylinder is the area of the circle face x height.
Try the mymaths lesson and homework. Question 1 on the homework is enough for a C.
2. Bisecting an angle:You want page 5 Make sure you do it yourself, at least once!
3. Perpendicular bisector of a line:You want page 6 Make sure you do it yourself, at least once!Check with a ruler/protractor
3. Enlarging shapes with a fractional scale factor: Use mymaths/shape and space/ enlargement. You will probably benefit from doing the lesson first.
Number and Algebra C
Week beginning 27 April 09
I have chosen the topics we have covered in class. If you want to do more, you will find them on mymaths, the CD and/or bitesize, revision books etc.
1. Percentage profit and loss Try the factsheet, worksheet or quiz.
2. Multiplying and dividing by negative numbers Try this video then have a go at the exercise on negative numbers on mymaths.
3. Trial and improvement Have another look at this, then, if you're brave try the mymaths homework!
Data D
Week beginning 20 April 09
1. Scatter diagrams:There is a mymaths task for this.
2. Stem and leaf diagrams: You want the section on stem and leaf, page 4, but the whole of this section is worth doing.
3. Probability: Try the probability from bitesize. Sam learning is also good.
Hope you are having a good holiday. Well done for keeping up with the revision!
Shape and space D
Week beginning 13 April 09 (sorry I seem to have missed a week - apologies)
1. Circumference of a circle:I have set you a mymaths task for this.
2. Area of a circle: see my maths
3. Co-ordinates of a mid-point of a line: This should work if you click play!
4. Using ratio for scale drawings: This is also on mymaths!
5. Constructing traingles using a pair of compasses and a ruler: look back at this lesson but make sure you DO some of the activities!(and check you have compasses!)
6. Making drawings of 3D objects: I have also put a task on this in mymaths.
7. Speed: Try this - don't worry about the really hard stuff towards the bottom.
Number and Algebra D
Week beginning 30 March 09

2.Squares, square roots, cubes: Try this and you need to learn the square numbers up to 15 squared
3.Use of calculator: Try the relevant page here.
4.The nth term of a sequence: visit mymaths and try algebra, sequences and both sequences and nth term. You may need to do the lesson for nth term. It's been a while...!
5.Solving equations: You have done some of this on mymaths - try "solving equations" if you mastered "simple equations" (or have another go at "simple equations").
6.Multiplying out brackets: try the pages on multiplying out brackets.
7.Factorising expressions: I have set you this task on mymaths
8.Plotting straight line graphs: Again there is a task waiting for you on mymaths (drawing graphs). Try the lesson first if you have forgotten this.
9.Interpreting graphs: The task awaits you on mymaths.
Data E
Week beginning 23 March 09
1. Pie charts: use mymaths and interpreting pie charts
2. Grouping data:Try bitesize and "Tallying, collecting and grouping data".
3. Using the probabilty scale:use mymaths and choose"simple probabilities" under data and probability.
4. Working out probabilites: use mymaths and "simple probabilities".
Shape, space and measures E
Week beginning 16 March 09
1. Area of parallelograms: Try these questions
2. Plotting co-ordinates: Use mymaths - I have set the tasks up for you. Don't forget to checkout!
3. Translating shapes:Have a look at this interactive site. You move through the questions by clicking on the coloured rectangle/grid.
4. Enlarging shapes:Watch what happens and answer the questions
5. The angles of regular polygons: here' s the revision lesson we did last week. Try to do page 2.
6. Properties of quadrilaterals:Use mymaths; shape; 2D and 3D shapes; lines and quadrilterals
7. Drawing polygons in circles: we did this on Tuesday. You could just remind yourself of how to find the angle at the centre.
